Cokin Nuances Extreme Reverse Kit X Serie
Cokin Nuances Extreme Reverse Kit X Serie | Control bright horizons with a reverse filter kit
The defining detail of the Cokin Nuances Extreme Reverse Kit is its reverse-filter design: it’s intended for scenes where the bright area sits around the horizon, rather than evenly across the sky. That makes it especially relevant to landscape photographers working with sunrise or sunset light, when the horizon can be much brighter than the foreground. The name also identifies it as part of Cokin’s X Serie, so it’s for photographers who use that filter format. A reverse filter is a more specific tool than a general filter for balancing a bright sky; its purpose is to help manage that band of light in the frame. If changing your framing or waiting for the light to soften isn’t enough, this kit gives you a filter-based way to address the exposure difference while composing. It’s a specialist option for a particular lighting problem, rather than a general-purpose camera accessory.
Specialist Note
X is the series designation in the name—10 in Roman numerals—and in practical terms it identifies this as a Cokin X Serie kit. The other useful clue is “Reverse”: this is aimed at scenes where the brightest band runs close to the horizon, such as a sunset over a flat landscape or a bright strip of sky above the sea. I’d compose with the horizon where that bright band falls, then use the reverse filter to help balance it against the land or water. It’s a focused solution, not a general filter for every lighting situation. If your main concern is an evenly bright sky, a reverse design may not be the one you need.
