DJI Osmo Action FOV Boost Lens: Capture a wider 182° view
The DJI Osmo Action FOV Boost Lens expands the field of view up to 182° for broader action footage. It’s made for Osmo Action 5 Pro owners who want more of the scene in frame, especially when filming from a first-person perspective. On the slopes, that wider view can bring your skis into a selfie; out on the water, it can include your surfboard as you ride. It also suits point-of-view clips where the surrounding action is part of the story, rather than just the subject directly ahead. The lens changes the framing compared with the camera’s standard lens, while keeping the recording settings the same for the stated field-of-view comparison. It’s a focused accessory for capturing a more expansive view of fast-moving activities, with skiing and surfing among the uses it’s made for.
A wider action view
- More width and height: At the same recording settings, the field of view grows by 26% horizontally and 24% vertically compared with the standard lens. That extra coverage brings more of the surroundings into the frame.
- Optical glass: The lens uses optical glass for sharp, detailed images. That matters when the wide view includes both the action close to the camera and more of the scene around it.
- For Osmo Action 5 Pro: This lens is compatible with the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. Its stated camera fit makes it a specific add-on for owners of that model.
- Compact dimensions: It measures 38.6 × 38.6 × 17.43 mm. Those measurements give you a clear sense of its size when planning space for it in your camera kit.
- 35.9 g weight: The lens weighs 35.9 g, a useful detail for riders keeping track of the weight of the gear they carry.
Specialist Note
At the top of a ski run, the camera turns back toward the skier and the FOV Boost Lens earns its place by bringing more of the scene into that selfie. I’d use the same broad framing on a surfboard, keeping the board in view as part of the first-person clip. The 38.6 mm square profile is worth considering when you’re packing accessories, and its 35.9 g weight adds a specific, modest amount to your kit. This is a specialist lens for Osmo Action 5 Pro owners; its appeal is the wider view, rather than a different kind of camera upgrade.
