On a set without a wireless link, camera monitoring means running video cables to each viewing position. The DJI SDR Transmission 2 sends DCI 4K/60fps 10-bit HDR video wirelessly, with a minimum latency of 35 ms. For a director, focus puller and camera team, one transmitter can feed up to eight receivers at once, so several people can follow the same shot from their own monitors. The transceiver works as either a transmitter or receiver, which gives the crew options when arranging the video path. Use it to send a camera feed to a director’s monitor, keep focus monitoring separate from the camera position, or share a live view with several crew members during a take. Auto Channel 2.0 scans for a suitable frequency and can change channels if interference threatens the link; manual channel selection is also available through the display or DJI Ronin app. The system supports HDMI and DisplayPort video input, and its maximum transfer distance is 4 km under ideal CE conditions. Previous DJI SDR Transmission and DJI Transmission products cannot join the same network as the SDR Transmission 2. SDI output requires the separately sold Expansion Plate.

For a set with 8 people needing to watch the same camera, I’d look at this system as a shared monitoring link rather than a feed for just one director. Its support for up to eight receivers is the detail that matters there: the director and focus puller can monitor simultaneously without separate wireless links for each position. The 35 ms minimum delay is useful for following action and focus, but remember that the camera and monitor add their own latency. I’d also plan around the connection you need: HDMI and DisplayPort are supported, while SDI requires the separately sold Expansion Plate. This kit is aimed at crews already building around DJI SDR Transmission 2; the system’s channel scanning is especially relevant when several wireless groups are working nearby.
