H&Y 95mm Drop-In Transparent Streak Filter
H&Y 95mm Drop-In Transparent Streak Filter | Add streak effects to bright lights
A bright lamp or reflected highlight can look like an ordinary point in an otherwise carefully composed scene. The H&Y 95mm Drop-In Transparent Streak Filter adds a streak effect to those bright details, giving you a way to make them part of the image’s visual character. It suits photographers who want to shape the look of night scenes, city lights or portraits that include a bright practical light. The transparent design keeps the scene visible while adding the effect, rather than turning the filter into an opaque cover. Use it when you want a deliberate light accent, not as an everyday correction filter. It’s most useful when your frame contains clear, bright light sources; a softly lit or evenly illuminated scene may give the streak effect little to work with. The result is a simple creative tool for changing how highlights read in the frame.
Specialist Note
For a night scene with a few bright windows or streetlights, I’d reach for this 95mm drop-in filter when I want those lights to draw the eye. The 95mm size is a practical matching cue: it belongs in a setup made to accept that size, so it’s worth keeping the filter and holder format together. Its drop-in design means you use it as an insert in the compatible holder, rather than treating it like a conventional screw-on filter. I’d also try it for a portrait with a visible lamp in the background; keep that light in the composition so the streak has a source to work from. It’s a considered effect, and quiet scenes may not show much of it.
