H&Y HD EVO-Series Balancer GND16 Filter Kit 72mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series Balancer GND16 Filter Kit 72mm | Balance bright skies in the frame
Without a graduated filter, you usually have to choose which part of a high-contrast scene gets the exposure: a bright sky can lose detail while the land stays dark. The H&Y HD EVO-Series Balancer GND16 Filter Kit is a 72mm filter kit with a graduated neutral-density designation, intended for scenes where brightness changes across the frame. It suits landscape photographers and anyone photographing buildings against a bright sky, especially when keeping detail in both areas matters. The GND format is most relevant when the bright and dark parts of the scene meet along a fairly clear boundary; it lets you reduce the imbalance at capture rather than relying entirely on later editing. The 72mm size makes the lens’s filter-thread measurement central to choosing it. This is a specialised option for managing uneven light, rather than a general-purpose filter for every kind of photograph.
Specialist Note
One limitation to bear in mind: a graduated filter can also darken anything that crosses its transition, so an uneven skyline takes more care than a clean horizon. That’s still why I’d consider this kit for landscapes with a bright sky and a darker foreground. The GND16 designation tells you this is the graduated option in the name, so the intended use is balancing different parts of the scene, not simply darkening the whole image evenly. Its 72mm size is the practical check: match that measurement to your lens’s filter thread before choosing it. If your usual subjects have a clear divide between sky and land, this is a focused tool for that job.
