H&Y Swift Magnetic VND 6-9 Stops (ND64-512)
H&Y Swift Magnetic VND 6-9 Stops (ND64-512) | Adjustable light reduction for bright scenes
H&Y Swift Magnetic VND 6-9 Stops (ND64-512) is a variable neutral-density filter accessory offering 6 to 9 stops of light reduction, for photographers and videographers who need more control in bright conditions. Because the density is variable, you can adjust how much light reaches the camera without swapping between separate fixed ND strengths. That’s useful when you want a slower shutter speed in daylight, or need to manage exposure while recording video. The ND64-512 range provides substantial light reduction for deliberate exposure work, such as smoothing moving water or controlling motion in a bright scene. Its magnetic, Swift designation identifies the filter’s format; the key point for choosing it is the adjustable density range. This is a focused tool for creators who want room to change exposure with the scene. If your shot calls for more than 9 stops of reduction, you’ll need stronger filtration.
Specialist Note
As the light gets stronger, the adjustable 6-to-9-stop range gives you room to cut exposure without switching between fixed ND strengths. For a daylight stream shot, move towards the 9-stop end to make a longer shutter exposure possible; for video, set your preferred shutter speed, then adjust the VND to bring exposure down. The ND64-512 rating describes the same range in density terms, so it’s a useful reference when comparing ND options. I’d point this out to someone who regularly works in bright conditions and wants variable reduction in one filter. One limit to keep in mind: its range tops out at 9 stops, so it won’t cover shots that need more reduction.
