Hama Smart WiFi Power Strip 4-Way | Manage power more neatly

A desk full of plugs can be awkward to manage, especially when you want to switch one device off without disturbing the others. The Hama Smart WiFi Power Strip brings four individually switched outlets together in one strip, with four USB ports as well. It’s suited to a home office, media area or other spot where several devices share a power point and you’d like a clearer way to organise them. The WiFi smart format is part of the design, while the separate switches give you direct control at the strip. Overload protection is included, too. The honest point to keep in mind is that the title gives no USB charging details, so I wouldn’t choose it on the assumption of a particular charging speed. For everyday power management, though, the combination of mains outlets and USB ports is the useful part.

Separate switching, simpler decisions

With four outlets switched individually, you can treat connected devices as separate choices rather than one group. That can be handy when some equipment needs to stay powered while other items can be switched off. The four USB ports offer another way to connect devices that use USB, alongside the four mains outlets. They’re two different kinds of connection, so it’s worth thinking about which devices you plan to plug in and how many need a mains outlet. The strip’s overload protection is a useful safety feature in a setup where several items share a power source. Its white finish is a straightforward fit for many rooms, though the main reason to consider this model is its mix of individually switched outlets and USB connections.
