Hohem iSteady Q Selfie Stick Gimbal White
Hohem iSteady Q Selfie Stick Gimbal White - 360° horizontal phone rotation
A walk-and-talk clip can lose its framing when you turn to speak to the camera. The Hohem iSteady Q Selfie Stick Gimbal White is a phone gimbal stabiliser with 360-degree horizontal rotation and a single-axis brushless motor. Face tracking follows the presenter, making it a useful companion for solo vlogging on the move. Its rotating upper arm also shifts the setup for desktop filming, while the phone’s full horizontal turn suits a rotating shot or a panorama. That range of uses is what sets this white iSteady Q apart: it works for handheld clips, a fixed talking video at a desk and group selfies started from a distance with the remote. It’s a compact way to cover those different filming situations with one stabiliser. The smartphone is not included.
Stability and setup
- 90-degree rotating arm: Pivot the upper arm to change the phone’s orientation and set the iSteady Q up for desktop use. It’s a straightforward switch between handheld filming and a stationary arrangement.
- Detachable remote: Use the remote to start a selfie or group photo from a little way off. A single click also switches between landscape and portrait orientation.
- Moment app effects: The app’s one-tap Moment feature includes Inception, Dolly Zoom and Clone Me effects. They add a playful, pre-set look to a clip without requiring you to build the effect yourself.
- Operating temperature: The stated range is -10 to 45°C, useful context when you’re planning to film outdoors in cold weather or in summer warmth.
Specialist Note
Keeping yourself in frame while you move is the little frustration this gimbal is meant to remove. I’d recommend it to a solo vlogger who wants to record a moving introduction, then switch to a desk clip: pivot the arm through 90 degrees for the tabletop setup and use face tracking while you speak. At 195 g, it’s light to carry between those setups, and folded dimensions of 140 × 54 × 35 mm take up little space in a bag. One point to plan around is the three-hour operating time; that’s plenty for a set of short clips, but I’d charge it before a longer filming session.
