Ilford FineArt Canvas Galicia 450GSM 36" 91.4cmx15m 1ROLL

Ilford FineArt Canvas Galicia 450GSM 36" 91.4cmx15m 1ROLL | Plan long canvas print runs

For canvas prints made from a roll, the Ilford FineArt Canvas Galicia gives you a 36-inch-wide working format, with 15 metres on the roll. Its listed width is also 91.4 cm, and the canvas has a weight of 450 gsm. That combination makes it relevant when you’re planning a series of prints or a single long piece and want to work from a roll rather than individual sheets. The name identifies it as FineArt Canvas, so it’s aimed at producing images on canvas rather than ordinary photo-paper prints. You’ll need to plan each print around the roll’s width and decide how much length to use; those are the practical numbers to work with here. It’s a straightforward format to consider when your print plan calls for canvas and a substantial roll length.

Planning a canvas print

Before starting a run, map out the finished print sizes and the order you’ll produce them in. The fixed roll width gives you a clear limit across each print, while the 15-metre length lets you plan how much material to allocate across the run. Allow for the layout you intend to print, rather than treating the full roll length as one image. If you’re making several pieces, a simple cut plan can help you keep track of how much roll you’ll use. The dimensions are given in both inches and centimetres, which is handy when your artwork measurements use one unit and your print setup uses the other. Keep the product name and weight with your print notes so the material is easy to identify when you return to the job.
