Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Rag GGFR 50inch-127cm X 15 M 1ROL

Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Rag GGFR 50inch-127cm X 15 M 1ROL | Wide-format paper in a long roll

When a print needs more room than a sheet provides, a roll is the format to consider. Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Rag is photographic paper for photographers and print studios making larger prints or working through a run of images. This version comes as one roll, with a width of 50 inches (127 cm) and a length of 15 metres. Those numbers make it easier to judge whether the paper’s scale suits the prints you have in mind, before you plan a job around it. It’s the format that’s most relevant here: a wide roll with substantial length, rather than a pack of individual sheets. If you’re choosing paper for a particular print, work out the image dimensions and layout first; the roll measurements give you a clear starting point for that decision.

Choosing the roll format

A roll can make sense when your print lengths vary, or when you want to prepare several images from one continuous supply. The fixed width sets the boundary for the layout, while the roll length gives you room to plan multiple prints or longer pieces. That’s a practical consideration, not a promise about the look of the finished image: the product name identifies the paper, but it doesn’t tell you how a particular photograph will render. For a gallery display, a portfolio or personal printing, start with the dimensions each image needs and consider how much paper your planned work will use. The 15-metre roll is a substantial amount to plan around, so it’s worth mapping out the intended print sizes rather than choosing by name alone. No complicated pitch here: the appeal is a clearly stated wide format and roll length for photographic printing.
