Ilford OmniJet Canvas Matt 345gsm 43,2cm x 15m

Ilford OmniJet Canvas Matt 345gsm 43,2cm x 15m | Matte canvas for prints

When you print on standard photo paper, the result has a familiar paper finish. Ilford OmniJet Canvas Matt gives you a canvas-style alternative with a matte surface. It’s aimed at photographers, artists and printmakers who want that presentation for photographs, artwork or display prints. The 345gsm weight is a useful point of reference when comparing it with lighter paper stocks; the finish and canvas format are the main reasons to choose it. This is a roll rather than a pack of pre-cut sheets, so you can plan print lengths around the work you have in mind. One honest consideration: canvas paper is a specific look, not a neutral replacement for every photo-paper job. If you want a conventional glossy or smooth-paper appearance, this isn’t the direction to take.

Choosing this canvas roll

Think first about the image and how you want it to read when displayed. A matte canvas presentation suits work where you’d rather avoid the familiar glossy-photo look, and the canvas format gives your print a different visual character from a standard sheet. That makes it worth considering for a small run of artwork or photographs intended for display, as well as for individual prints where the surface is part of the presentation.

The roll format is also worth factoring into your workflow. You’re choosing stock by its width and total roll length, rather than by a set number of sheets in a pack. That can help when you’re planning several prints of different lengths, though the actual layout will depend on your printer and the margins your print job requires. The listed width is 43.2cm and the roll is 15m long. Those figures give you a straightforward starting point for checking whether the format suits the prints you want to make. Keep the weight in mind too: 345gsm is a substantial paper weight, so compare it with the media you already use before settling on a canvas finish for a particular project.
