Insta360 Ultra Wide Lens For Ace Pro 2: Capture a broader point of view
A standard action-camera view can leave the handlebars, trail and surrounding landscape competing for space in your footage. The Insta360 Ultra Wide Lens for Ace Pro 2 expands the field of view to 157°, bringing more of the scene into a point-of-view clip. That wider perspective is useful on a mountain bike, where you may want both the bars and the route ahead in frame, and on skis or a motorcycle when the surrounding terrain is part of the story. The lens is made specifically for the Ace Pro 2 and fits its existing lens mount. Its optical design is intended to keep distortion low and detail sharp across the image, so the wider view still feels composed rather than simply stretched. For riders and other action-camera users who want more context in their footage, this is a focused optical change, not a different camera setup.
Ultra-wide lens highlights
- 157° field of view: The expanded view captures more of the surroundings in a single frame. That added context is especially useful for first-person clips where the activity and the scenery both matter.
- Optical glass with a scratch-resistant coating: The glass adds a protective layer over the camera’s built-in optics, while the coating is intended to resist scratches during outdoor use.
- Coatings to reduce reflections: The lens coatings help control reflections and flare when bright light enters the frame. That’s useful when a ride or run takes you toward the sun.
- Twist-on fitting: It attaches to the Ace Pro 2’s existing lens mount without tools. Once fitted, it sits securely for filming with the camera.
- Camera-recognised configuration: The Ace Pro 2 recognises the lens and adjusts its stabilisation and other software functions for the wider view, so the camera responds to the changed optics.
Specialist Note
For a mountain-bike point-of-view clip, I’d use the 157° view to keep the bars and more of the trail in the same shot. The lens’s twist-on fit is a welcome detail: it attaches at the Ace Pro 2’s existing mount without a tool, so changing the setup is straightforward. I’d also value the camera’s recognition of the lens, because its stabilisation and software functions then adjust for the wider framing. This is a focused accessory for Ace Pro 2 owners who want a broader perspective for riding, skiing or motorcycling. It’s specific to that camera, so it isn’t a general-purpose add-on.
