JJC Aet-LS(II) Lens Extension Tube For L-Lenses
JJC Aet-LS(II) Lens Extension Tube For L-Lenses | Get closer for detailed shots
Rather than lengthening a lens’s focal length, the JJC Aet-LS(II) is an extension tube for L-Lenses that lets you focus closer to your subject. It’s aimed at photographers who want to make small details fill more of the frame, whether that’s a flower, a compact object or an interesting surface. The tube sits between the lens and camera, increasing the distance between them; this changes the focusing range towards close subjects. That makes it a tool for close-up work, not for bringing distant subjects nearer. For tabletop details, work with your camera supported and move it gently until the subject comes into focus. An extension tube also narrows the range of distances you can focus on, so you’ll need to reposition for subjects at different distances. Its appeal is its specific purpose: closer framing with an L-Lens, without treating the tube as a telephoto extender.
Specialist Note
II (two) in Aet-LS(II) is part of the model name; in practice, use that exact name when identifying this tube. As an extension tube, it’s for shifting your focus towards nearby subjects, so I’d consider it for flower details or small objects on a table rather than distant scenes. Move the camera slowly to find focus, and support it if you want a steady composition. The title specifies L-Lenses, which makes that the key pairing to keep in mind. One limitation of extension-tube shooting is the restricted focusing range: you’ll need to move the camera or subject to change the framing, rather than simply focusing across a broad range of distances.
