Kondor Blue KB-FCF-ND6 Firecrest Alloy Cine IRND 4x5.65" Filters ND 0.6 | Two stops less light for controlled cine exposure

Strong light can force an awkward choice: change the aperture you want, or accept more exposure than you intended. The Kondor Blue KB-FCF-ND6 is a 4x5.65-inch cine filter with ND 0.6 density, reducing incoming light by two stops. That gives you room to hold your chosen shutter setting or aperture when the scene is brighter than your preferred exposure allows. It’s aimed at cinematographers and video crews working with the 4x5.65-inch filter format, particularly when a measured, modest reduction is enough rather than a heavier ND. The product is identified as Firecrest Alloy Cine IRND, so it’s a cine-oriented IRND filter, not a UV-protection filter despite the broad category label. Its role is straightforward: add two stops of exposure control without changing your camera settings. If you need a much darker cut, this density alone won’t get you there.

Specialist Note

For an outdoor dialogue setup at 24 fps, I’d use ND 0.6 when the meter says the scene is two stops too bright for the shutter and aperture I want. It gives you a measured correction, so you can keep a 1/48-second shutter at 24 fps and retain your chosen aperture, rather than closing down just to tame the light. The 4x5.65-inch format suits a crew already working with that cine filter size; it belongs in a matching-format workflow, not a pocket screw-in setup. I’d recommend it to video crews who need a modest daylight adjustment. Its limit is the two-stop strength: harsher sun may call for additional filtration.
