Kondor Blue KB-MB-SS12-BK Safety Braid For Matte Box 12" Raven Black
Kondor Blue KB-MB-SS12-BK Safety Braid For Matte Box 12" Raven Black | A dedicated matte-box safety restraint
During a lens change or a move between setups, a matte box is one more piece of kit you don’t want left relying on its main attachment alone. The Kondor Blue KB-MB-SS12-BK is a safety braid made for matte-box use, giving operators and camera assistants a dedicated restraint to include in their rigging. It’s a practical accessory for working setups where equipment is repositioned, handled or packed away regularly. Its job is about securing the matte-box arrangement, not changing the image: it doesn’t belong in the same decision as an ND or diffusion filter. That makes it relevant to people building or refining a matte-box rig, rather than shoppers looking for an optical effect. Keep the restraint routed neatly around the rig and clear of controls and moving parts; a tidy route helps it stay out of the way while you operate the matte box.
Specialist Note
This braid gives a matte-box setup a dedicated safety restraint, rather than leaving all the responsibility to its primary mounting. At 12 inches, it has a short, defined reach; I’d route it between secure points suited to your setup, with enough slack for normal repositioning but no loose loop. Raven Black keeps the look discreet on a dark rig, which is handy when you want the safety detail to sit quietly among the rest of your kit. It suits operators and assistants who regularly move a matte box between takes or pack it down at wrap. One point I’d keep in mind: treat it as a secondary restraint, not a substitute for mounting the matte box securely.
