Nanlux Octagonal Softbox 150cm (NLM Mount)

Nanlux Octagonal Softbox 150cm (NLM Mount) | Shape softer light for portraits

Expect a broad, soft-looking light in your images, with an octagonal reflection when the softbox appears in a subject’s eyes or on a reflective surface. The Nanlux Octagonal Softbox is a 150cm light modifier for photographers and filmmakers who want a large, soft source for portraits, interviews or product work. Its size gives you room to work with light spread across more of a subject, rather than a small, concentrated source. The octagonal shape also gives the reflected light a distinct outline; that can matter in close portraits and shiny product shots. It attaches via an NLM mount. If you’re setting up a compact kit or need a very small modifier, this is a substantial piece of equipment to plan around. For a controlled studio setup, though, it offers a straightforward way to work with a broad source and shape the look of your lighting.

Working with a large softbox

A softbox is used to diffuse light, helping produce softer-edged shadows than a bare light source. The result depends on how you position the light and how close it is to your subject, so the softbox itself doesn’t dictate a single look. Bring it nearer for a more pronounced, soft source; move it farther away when you need the light to cover more of a scene. Those are general lighting principles, rather than special settings built into this product. The octagonal outline gives reflections a rounded, multi-sided appearance instead of a rectangular one. That detail is easy to overlook when you’re choosing a modifier, but it can be visible in an eye or on a glossy surface. Think about the room and the way you’ll support and position a large softbox before building it into a lighting setup. Its listed mount is NLM; the product name alone doesn’t establish fit beyond that mount designation.
