PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Coarse Threaded - 95mm - McKinnon Series | Adjust exposure and polarization in one filter

PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Coarse Threaded - 95mm - McKinnon Series combines variable neutral density with polarization in a 2–5-stop range. It’s aimed at filmmakers and photographers who want to manage exposure and reflected light with one filter on the lens. The variable density lets you reduce the light reaching the camera as conditions change; the polarizing function helps manage reflections and glare. That makes it especially useful for outdoor video, where controlling exposure while keeping a consistent shutter speed can matter, and for scenes with reflective surfaces such as water or glass. The 2–5-stop range gives you room to adjust without jumping straight to heavy light reduction. It’s a specialist filter, though: the 95mm coarse-threaded format has to match the lens front you intend to use it on. If it does, this McKinnon Series filter brings two familiar image-control tasks into one piece of kit.

Where this filter is useful

For video, variable ND filtration can help you hold your chosen shutter speed as daylight changes, rather than letting exposure dictate your motion rendering. For stills, polarization gives you a way to reduce distracting reflections in a scene. The two functions serve different purposes, so it’s worth adjusting for the effect you actually want: reducing exposure and controlling reflections aren’t interchangeable. This filter suits a photographer or filmmaker who values that combination and can work within its stated 2–5 range.
