PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Gold Mist - 77mm - McKinnon Series
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Gold Mist - 77mm - McKinnon Series | Shape exposure and add a warm, softened look
Bright conditions can make it difficult to keep the exposure you want while filming, and switching between a neutral density filter and a polarizing filter adds another step. This PolarPro combines variable ND and polarizing functions in one filter, so you can adjust exposure and work with reflections using a single piece of kit. The Gold Mist finish adds a warmer, softened character to the image, making it a creative option when you want a less clinical look rather than a strictly neutral result. It’s aimed at filmmakers and photographers who like to shape the look in camera, especially in daylight or around reflective surfaces. The 2-5 designation gives you a defined range of light reduction to work within; it’s useful for moderate adjustments, though it won’t cover every very-bright situation. This is a specialist filter for deliberate exposure and mood, not an invisible correction.
Specialist Note
At 2 stops on a bright outdoor video setup, I’d start here when I want to keep my chosen shutter setting without reaching straight for a heavier ND. The variable range runs to 5 stops, so you can increase the reduction as the light changes; do keep that ceiling in mind in harsh midday sun. The combined VND/PL design is handy when you’re filming reflective surfaces and want exposure adjustment alongside polarization, rather than swapping filters. Gold Mist adds a warmer, softened image character, so I’d choose it for a considered look, not for neutral colour reproduction. The 77mm size makes it a fit for lenses with a matching filter thread.
