PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 Gold Mist 95mm Coarse Threaded McKinnon Series

PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 Gold Mist 95mm Coarse Threaded McKinnon Series | Variable exposure control with a warm creative finish

Combining variable neutral-density and polarizing control in a 95mm filter is the defining decision here: it lets you adjust light and manage reflections without swapping between two separate filter types. The 2–5 range gives you a bounded amount of exposure reduction, while the Gold Mist finish adds a warmer, softened look to the image. That makes this McKinnon Series filter particularly suited to filmmakers and photographers who want exposure control with a deliberate visual character, rather than a neutral result alone. Use the VND adjustment when you want to hold your chosen exposure approach as light changes; use the polarizing effect to reduce unwanted reflections on surfaces such as glass or water. It’s a specialist combination, not a plain neutral filter, so the creative finish is part of the decision.

What the combination offers

• Variable ND and polarizing functions share one filter, combining exposure adjustment with reflection control.
• The 2–5 range is suited to moderate exposure changes; it has a defined limit rather than covering every lighting condition.
• Gold Mist brings a warmer, softened image character for scenes where you want that look in-camera.

Where it makes sense

For video, variable ND control can help you manage exposure as brightness changes without immediately changing your chosen aperture. For reflective scenes, the polarizing function gives you another way to shape what the camera sees through glass or on water. The Gold Mist look makes this a creative filter as well as a control tool, so it’s best when you want its visual character—not when you need an entirely neutral rendering.
