PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Helix Maglock (Filter Only) - McKinnon Series
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 2-5 - Helix Maglock (Filter Only) - McKinnon Series | Control light and reflections in one filter
What sets this PolarPro apart is its combination of variable neutral density and polarizing functions: you can reduce incoming light while also managing reflections, using one filter. It offers a 2–5 stop range, making it suited to filmmakers and photographers who want exposure control in changing light without giving up the effect of a polarizer. It’s especially useful for outdoor video, where reducing light can help you hold your chosen exposure settings, and for scenes with reflective water or glass. The Chroma name identifies the filter, while Helix Maglock specifies its filter system; this is the filter only, not a wider kit. That makes it a focused option for someone already choosing a filter for that system. Its range is deliberately limited to five stops, so it’s for moderate exposure adjustment rather than very strong light reduction.
Specialist Note
First-time VND owners can expect one filter to solve every bright-light problem; this one is more specific, and that’s useful to know before choosing it. Its 2–5 stop range gives you room to trim exposure for outdoor video while keeping the polarizing function available for reflections on water or glass. For a water scene, set the light reduction you need, then adjust your shooting angle to manage the reflection; the filter can’t remove every reflection from every position. I’d point this toward someone making video or photographing reflective outdoor scenes who wants both jobs handled in the Helix Maglock filter system. The honest limit: five stops won’t cover every situation that calls for heavy ND filtration.
