PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Fine Threaded - 95mm - McKinnon Series | Variable light control with polarization

Without a filter, you have to manage bright light by changing your camera settings or accepting reflections in the scene. The PolarPro Chroma VND/PL combines variable neutral-density filtration with polarization, giving you a way to reduce incoming light and manage reflections with one filter. Its 6–9 range is aimed at situations that call for a substantial reduction, rather than a small exposure adjustment. That makes it especially relevant for outdoor video, where you may want to keep your chosen shutter speed and aperture as daylight changes. The polarizing function can also help control reflections from surfaces such as glass or water. It’s a specialist tool for filmmakers and photographers who work in bright conditions and want both kinds of control in one filter. The fine-threaded format is designed to screw onto a lens with a matching filter thread.

Specialist Note

The 6–9-stop range is quite strong, so this wouldn’t be my pick for a scene that needs only a light exposure adjustment. Its appeal is having that deeper reduction available when bright conditions make it hard to hold your chosen video settings. The 95mm fine-threaded fitting gives you a direct screw-on option for a lens with a matching thread; it’s worth treating that size as essential when choosing a filter. For outdoor video, adjust the variable density to keep your preferred shutter speed as the light changes. For reflections on glass or water, use the polarizing function to manage glare. The McKinnon Series identity gives it a clear place in PolarPro’s range, but the useful part here is the combined VND and PL function.
