PolarPro Elix 86mm Thread Plat

PolarPro Elix 86mm Thread Plat | UV filtration for an 86mm lens thread

For a lens with an 86mm filter thread, the PolarPro Elix 86mm Thread Plat is a UV filter that gives you a straightforward way to filter ultraviolet light at the front of your lens. It suits photographers who want a threaded filter they can fit directly to a lens with the matching thread size, rather than relying on a filter holder. The practical result is a simple, always-in-place filter for outdoor photography, where UV light can contribute to atmospheric haze. It won’t change the scene the way a polarising or neutral-density filter does, so it’s best when you want UV filtration without deliberately darkening the image or altering reflections. The name identifies the size clearly: 86mm. Match that to the thread marking on your lens, and you’ll know whether this filter is the right physical fit.

Choosing the right thread size

Filter size refers to the diameter of the lens’s filter thread, not its focal length. Look for the thread size marked on the lens or its cap; the filter needs to match it. If your lens has an 86mm thread, this filter’s stated size is the one to look for. A different thread size won’t screw on directly, so don’t choose by lens model or focal length alone.
