PolarPro Quartzline ND16 Filter 67 mm

PolarPro Quartzline ND16 Filter 67 mm | Control bright-light exposure

Bright light can leave you choosing between a shutter speed that freezes everything and an aperture that’s narrower than you want. The PolarPro Quartzline ND16 Filter reduces the light reaching your camera by four stops, giving you more room to choose the exposure you’re after. It’s useful when you want motion to show in a bright scene, or when you want to keep a wider aperture outdoors without overexposing the image. This filter suits photographers and filmmakers who want a straightforward way to manage light in daylight. It’s especially handy for scenes with moving water or clouds, where a slower shutter speed can record their movement. ND16 is a fixed level of light reduction, so it won’t replace a variable filter when you need to adjust the strength continuously.

A practical exposure example

Four stops means you can trade a fast shutter speed for a slower one while keeping the same exposure, assuming the other settings and light stay constant. For example, a starting shutter speed of 1/1000 second becomes about 1/60 second after four stops of reduction. That gives moving water time to blur into a smoother look. Treat the numbers as a starting point: the right exposure still depends on the light and the scene.
