Radius Large Hole Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Pair)
Radius Large Hole Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Pair) | Wind protection for LAV microphones
The defining detail here is the Large Hole Urchin design: this is a black windshield pair identified for LAV use, rather than a general microphone accessory. It suits anyone recording with lavalier microphones who wants wind protection in a format made for that kind of mic. Wind can make speech harder to hear, particularly in outdoor recordings, and a windshield is intended to help reduce that problem at the microphone. The pair is useful when you’re setting up two LAV microphones, such as for a conversation or interview, and want matching black windshields on both. Its appeal is deliberately specific: the product name gives you the LAV designation, the large-hole style and the black finish in one clear description. If your recording setup uses LAV microphones, this is the kind of small accessory worth considering when wind is affecting your sound. It’s a focused solution, not a claim that every microphone or recording situation calls for the same windshield.
Specialist Note
New LAV users can focus so much on choosing a microphone that they overlook wind hitting it; this pair puts the accessory decision in clear terms. The “Large Hole” wording identifies the style, while “LAV” tells you the intended microphone category, so use those details when matching it to your setup. With two windshields in the pair, you can equip two LAV microphones for a seated interview or conversation recording. I’d use them when outdoor air movement is getting into speech, while keeping the microphones positioned as intended for your recording. The honest limit is that a windshield addresses wind at the mic; it can’t fix every source of noisy audio. Its black finish is a practical match when you want the accessories to stay visually discreet.
