Radius Shotgun Mic Foam Windshield MKH 60
Radius Shotgun Mic Foam Windshield MKH 60 | A simple wind buffer for the MKH 60
Its appeal is its specific purpose: this Radius foam windshield is named for the MKH 60, giving owners of that shotgun microphone a straightforward way to help reduce wind noise. It’s most useful when recording speech outdoors or working near a light breeze, where air moving across a microphone can distract from the voice you’re trying to capture. The foam construction keeps the idea simple: place the windshield over the microphone and use it as a buffer between the mic and moving air. For interviewers, documentary makers and video crews using an MKH 60, it’s a practical accessory to keep with the microphone for location recording. It won’t make every windy situation quiet, but it gives you a dedicated foam cover for the named mic rather than a generic accessory with unclear application.
Specialist Note
The Radius foam windshield is a straightforward way to take the edge off wind around an MKH 60. Because it’s made of foam, it’s easy to understand its role: cover the microphone so the foam sits between the mic and the breeze. I’d consider it for outdoor interviews or spoken dialogue on a video shoot, especially when there’s gentle air movement; keep the mic aimed at the speaker and the windshield in place as you record. The product is specifically named for the MKH 60, which makes its intended pairing clear. In stronger gusts, don’t expect a foam cover alone to erase all wind noise.
