Reflecta Video Capture Set USB Video Converter

Reflecta Video Capture Set USB Video Converter - PAL capture up to 720 × 576 pixels

Reflecta Video Capture Set USB Video Converter captures analogue video at up to 720 × 576 pixels in PAL. It's for people transferring recordings from a VCR or camcorder to a computer, with video and audio carried over a single USB connection. The set accepts composite video and S-Video, and includes a SCART adapter for equipment with that connection. Once plugged in, the grabber is recognised as a USB camera, so you can record with standard apps such as Windows Camera or QuickTime without installing a separate driver. Use it to save family tapes as digital files, capture camcorder footage for editing, or prepare recordings for DVD with the included Honestech VHS to DVD software on Windows. On Mac, QuickTime is the listed capture option. It’s a straightforward bridge between analogue playback equipment and a computer; the maximum capture resolution is standard definition, not HD.

What it does

• Composite and S-Video inputs: Connect a source using composite video or S-Video. Separate left and right audio inputs carry sound alongside the picture.
• SCART adapter included: The supplied adapter adds a SCART connection option for compatible playback equipment, alongside the grabber’s composite and S-Video inputs.
• Recognised as a USB camera: The computer identifies the grabber as a USB camera, and no separate driver installation is needed. The incoming signal can be captured with standard software, including Windows Camera or QuickTime.
• PAL and NTSC capture: Maximum resolution is 720 × 576 pixels for PAL and 720 × 480 for NTSC. The stated frame rates are 25 fps for PAL and 30 fps for NTSC.
• Honestech software for Windows: The included VHS to DVD program is intended for recording and editing video, as well as preparing DVDs. The software is listed for Windows only.

Good to know

The grabber measures 73 × 30 × 22 mm and weighs 67 g, so it takes up little space beside a computer. It draws its power from USB rather than a separate power supply. The supplied USB lead is 80 cm long; allow for that when placing the computer in relation to your VCR or camcorder.
