Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 67
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 67 | Control reflections and sky contrast
Without a polarizer, reflections and glare are usually left in the frame or handled later in editing. The Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 67 is a circular polarizing filter for photographers who want to control those effects while composing. It’s especially useful for reducing reflections from surfaces such as water or glass, and for bringing more definition to a blue sky when the shooting angle and light are right. Rotate the filter while looking at the scene to find the effect you want; the result changes with your position relative to the light, so it won’t be equally strong in every situation. This is a considered tool for landscapes, travel and scenes with reflective surfaces, rather than a filter you need on the lens for every picture. The “67” identifies its 67 mm size, so match that to the filter size required by your lens.
Specialist Note
A polarizer takes some light from the scene, so I wouldn’t leave it on by default when light is scarce. Its value is the control it gives you when reflections are getting in the way. This is the 67 mm version, so it suits a lens that takes that filter size; once fitted, rotate it while watching a shop window or water surface and stop when the reflection is reduced to your taste. For a landscape, turn it gradually and watch the sky rather than assuming the strongest setting will look best. The black colour keeps the filter visually discreet on the front of the lens.
