Rycote 3/8" Boom Adaptor Swivel w/ 10cm Hot Shoe Extension
Rycote 3/8" Boom Adaptor Swivel w/ 10cm Hot Shoe Extension | Give your microphone room to sit
Position a microphone more deliberately on a camera rig, with a little extra space around the camera body. The Rycote 3/8" Boom Adaptor Swivel w/ 10cm Hot Shoe Extension combines a swivel boom adaptor for a 3/8-inch connection with a 10 cm hot shoe extension. It’s intended for camera operators and sound recordists who already have a boom with that connection and want to mount it via a camera’s hot shoe. The extension moves the mounting point outward, while the swivel gives you a way to angle the adaptor for your setup. That can make it easier to place a microphone for on-camera speech or keep its position clear of nearby camera equipment. This is compact positioning hardware, not a long boom: it’s best when you need a modest adjustment close to the camera, rather than distance from it.
Specialist Note
An awkward microphone position is the kind of small rig problem this adaptor can help solve. The 3/8-inch connection makes the boom size it’s intended for clear, so you can match it to a boom with that fitting rather than guess. Its 10 cm hot shoe extension gives you some separation from the camera; mount it on the shoe, then use the swivel to angle the boom for on-camera speech or to keep the microphone clear of the immediate camera area. I’d suggest it to camera users who already own a matching boom and need a tidy, close-in position. The extension is short, so it won’t replace a longer boom when the microphone needs to sit well away.
