Rycote Duck Raincover 1
Rycote Duck Raincover 1 | Keep rain off your microphone
Keep a microphone sheltered from rain during an outdoor recording session. The Rycote Duck Raincover 1 is a microphone raincover for sound recordists who need weather protection as part of their location setup. It’s especially relevant when you’re recording dialogue or ambient sound outdoors and a change in the weather could interrupt the work. A raincover gives you a practical way to address that risk, without making claims about how much rain it can handle or which microphones it fits. Keep it close at hand when planning a recording in uncertain weather, and use it as intended to help protect your microphone from rain. For a specialist accessory, the value is straightforward: it’s there for the moments when keeping the recording going matters, and the weather can’t be controlled.
Think of this as a purpose-specific piece of your audio kit, rather than a general cover for equipment. It suits people who record outside and want a raincover made for microphone use. For instance, have it ready for an outdoor interview or a session capturing natural ambience, so you can respond if rain starts to threaten the setup. It’s sensible to treat a raincover as protection from rain, not as a promise that every microphone or every wet-weather situation is covered.
Specialist Note
1, as part of the product name, is the identifier I’d keep handy when discussing this Rycote raincover with your audio supplier. In practice, that means using the full name, Duck Raincover 1, when checking that it’s the exact item you need. It’s listed as a microphone accessory, so I’d consider it for location sound work such as an outdoor interview or recording ambient sound. Have the cover ready before the weather turns, rather than waiting until rain is already falling on your setup. I’d also keep expectations measured: a raincover is a sensible layer of protection, not a guarantee against every wet-weather condition.
