Rycote Nagra Mezzo Mini Windjammer
Rycote Nagra Mezzo Mini Windjammer | Help tame wind in outdoor recordings
Rycote Nagra Mezzo Mini Windjammer is a black wind-protection accessory for recording with the Nagra Mezzo Mini. It’s made for sound recordists who need moving air to be less distracting in a take, particularly when working outdoors or near an open window. A breeze can make speech harder to use and quiet location sounds harder to capture cleanly; a windjammer helps address that specific problem at the microphone. Its named fit makes it relevant to people using the Nagra Mezzo Mini, rather than a general-purpose accessory for any microphone. You might keep it ready for an outdoor interview, a street conversation or recording natural ambience on location. It’s a focused piece of audio kit for situations where wind can interfere with the sound you’re trying to record. In stronger gusts, positioning still matters, so look for some shelter as well.
Specialist Note
A breezy street interview is underway, and the speaker’s words matter more than the sound of air across the microphone. That’s the kind of moment when this Rycote accessory earns its place. The Nagra Mezzo Mini name is the key point: I’d keep it paired with that specific setup, rather than think of it as a universal cover. Its black colour is discreet on location, which is handy when you’d rather the microphone equipment stay visually unobtrusive. For outdoor dialogue or quieter location ambience, use the windjammer and choose a sheltered position if the breeze strengthens. It can help with wind, but it can’t remove the effects of very exposed conditions. If you record with the Nagra Mezzo Mini, this is a purpose-specific accessory to consider keeping close.
