Rycote Suspension XX-Small (MZL)
Rycote Suspension XX-Small (MZL) | A clearly identified microphone suspension
Keeping a microphone supported in a recording setup starts with choosing the right suspension. This is Rycote’s XX-Small version, identified in the product name as MZL. It suits anyone who already knows that this specific size and designation are what their microphone setup calls for, rather than someone shopping for an unspecified suspension. Its clearest use is as the named suspension in a microphone setup for recording spoken audio, such as an interview or a fixed voice recording position. The practical benefit is having the component identified precisely: XX-Small and MZL give you a clear reference when selecting or organising your equipment. Because the product information gives no further fit or construction details, I’d keep the choice tied to that full product name instead of guessing from the size label alone. If that designation matches the part you need, this is a straightforward way to find it.
Specialist Note
XX is 20 in Roman numerals; here, it’s part of the XX-Small name, so I’d use the complete designation as the practical reference when choosing this suspension. The other useful identifier is MZL: together with Rycote, it distinguishes this specific product from a general microphone accessory. I’d consider it for a spoken-word setup, whether you’re arranging an interview position or a dedicated voice-recording space. In either case, match the name to the suspension your setup calls for rather than assuming that “small” tells you enough. It’s a focused item, and its value is in identifying the particular suspension you need.
