Saramonic LavMicro U1B Tie Mic Lightning
Saramonic LavMicro U1B Tie Mic Lightning | Keep spoken audio close
Speaking towards a device from across a desk can leave your voice competing with the room. The Saramonic LavMicro U1B Tie Mic Lightning is a wearable microphone with a Lightning connection, designed to keep the mic close to the person speaking. Its tie-mic format suits people recording direct-to-camera pieces, short interviews or voice notes on a compatible device. Rather than relying on a device’s built-in microphone from a distance, you can wear this mic near the speaker and keep the recording device where it’s convenient. That makes it most useful for speech-led recordings where the person talking is the focus. It’s a focused accessory, not an all-purpose room microphone: choose it for close spoken audio, rather than making distant sounds or a whole space the priority.
Specialist Note
For a 45-second talking-head clip at a desk, I’d use the LavMicro U1B as a tie mic and keep it close to the person speaking, rather than asking them to project across the room. Its wearable format means the microphone stays with the speaker as they talk, which suits a short piece to camera or a one-to-one interview. The Lightning connection is useful when your recording setup has a compatible Lightning port, giving you a direct way to connect this particular mic. I’d choose it for close speech; it’s less suited to capturing a whole room or distant sounds. If that’s your main job, this is the wrong style of microphone.
