Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 0.6 HEH 4x5.65
Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 0.6 HEH 4x5.65 | Two-stop light reduction
Without a neutral-density filter, you have to change your aperture or shutter speed when the scene is too bright for the exposure you want. The Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 0.6 is a gray ND filter for controlling that light while keeping those choices in play. It suits camera operators and crews working with a filter setup made for the 4x5.65 format, especially when consistent exposure matters across a shot. Use it to keep a wider aperture in bright conditions, or to choose a slower shutter without letting the image become too bright. Its value is straightforward: it gives you a measured reduction in light, rather than asking you to compromise on your intended settings. This is a modest-strength filter, so it’s best when a small, predictable exposure adjustment is what the shot needs.
Choosing it for a shot
Start with the aperture and shutter speed you want, then meter the scene with the filter in place and adjust exposure as needed. That keeps the creative decision ahead of the correction. For a shot that needs much heavier light reduction, this filter alone may not be enough; it’s aimed at a more restrained adjustment.
Specialist Note
“Does the 0.6 rating make a noticeable difference?” Yes: it reduces light by two stops, which is enough to make a specific exposure adjustment without turning the filter into a heavy darkening tool. For example, if your exposure calls for 1/50 sec, you can move to 1/12.5 sec at the same aperture and ISO. The 4x5.65 format matters when your filter holder is made for that size, so check the format of your setup before planning a shot around it. I’d suggest this to operators who want a controlled, moderate reduction; for a much slower daylight exposure, you’ll need more ND strength.
