Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 2 6.6x6.6
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 2 6.6x6.6 | Control light for a softer image
For scenes where bright light makes exposure difficult and you want a softer-looking image, an ND filter gives you another way to manage the light reaching the lens. The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 2 6.6x6.6 is a square-format filter in Renz’s ND filter category, with “Radiant Soft 2” as its named effect. It’s aimed at filmmakers and image-makers working with a square-filter setup who want to shape a shot while keeping exposure under control. The ND designation makes it relevant when you need to reduce incoming light; the Radiant Soft name points to a gentler rendering as part of the look. That can be useful when the image should feel less crisp or stark, rather than simply darker. The title gives the format as 6.6x6.6, so it’s worth matching that marking to the filter system you use before planning a setup.
Specialist Note
Hard light can leave a picture feeling sharper and more clinical than you intended; this filter’s Radiant Soft 2 name is the reason I’d consider it for a gentler look. It’s also an ND filter, so you can use it when excess light is getting in the way of your exposure choices. I’d think about it for a portrait or a controlled scene where you want to soften the image’s character, then judge the result in the framing you’re actually using. The 6.6x6.6 format is a practical detail to get right: match that square size to your filter setup. It won’t make exposure decisions for you, so keep setting those deliberately.
