Sirui 20mm T1.8 1.33X S35 AF Anamorphic Lens (L Mount Blue Flare)

Sirui 20mm T1.8 1.33X S35 AF Anamorphic Lens (L Mount Blue Flare) | Widescreen character for S35 filmmaking

On a narrative shoot, a wide room needs to feel expansive without losing the character of an anamorphic image. The Sirui 20mm T1.8 1.33X S35 AF Anamorphic Lens is made for that kind of filmmaking, with a 1.33x squeeze and a blue-flare look. Its 20mm focal length suits environmental shots and close scenes where you need room around your subject. This is an interchangeable lens for Leica L mount, designed for APS-C sensor format, and it focuses automatically. It’s a specialised video lens rather than an everyday stills option: the appeal is the anamorphic framing and flare character in a setup built around S35. It should suit filmmakers who want that visual language while keeping autofocus in their workflow.

Framing an anamorphic scene

Anamorphic framing rewards deliberate composition. Give faces and important details space within the wider frame, and watch the edges when placing people in a room. The blue flare is part of the lens’s look, so consider where bright sources sit in the shot before you roll. That makes this a considered creative tool: useful when you want the flare and widescreen feel to contribute to the scene, rather than appear by accident.
