The Sirui 50mm T2.9 is an interchangeable cinema lens for Leica L-mount cameras with full-frame sensors. Its 1.6X anamorphic design compresses the image horizontally during capture; apply the corresponding de-squeeze when monitoring or in post-production to see the intended proportions. The 50mm focal length and an estimated 47° angle of view give you a defined field of view for composing shots, while the T2.9 maximum aperture gives you a useful option when a scene is dim. Focus is manual, so it suits filmmakers who want direct control during a take. This is a lens for planned video work, from dialogue to composed scene-setting shots, rather than quick, hands-off filming.

Specialist Note

"T2.9 is a practical maximum aperture for a controlled interior: it gives you room to work with available light, while keeping exposure decisions in your hands. For a dialogue scene, I’d start around T2.9 if the light calls for it, then focus manually as your subject moves. The 1.6X anamorphic squeeze is what makes this lens distinctive, but remember to plan a de-squeeze step in your monitoring or post workflow so faces and framing look proportionate. I’d recommend it to filmmakers who enjoy setting focus deliberately and want an anamorphic option for full-frame L-mount video. It asks for a more considered workflow than a standard spherical lens."
