Sony E 11mm f/1.8 APS-C Wide Angle Prime | Room for the whole scene

For broad landscapes, dramatic building views and night skies with plenty of space around the subject, the Sony E 11mm f/1.8 APS-C Wide Angle Prime gives you an ultra-wide view in a compact prime-lens format. Its 11mm focal length suits Sony E APS-C cameras, where it lets you include more of a scene when stepping back isn’t an option. That makes it especially appealing for landscape photographers who want foreground and sky together, architecture shooters working in tight spaces, and anyone composing a wider view of the stars. Autofocus is there when you want the lens to focus for you, while the bright maximum aperture offers extra flexibility as light levels fall. This is a lens for making space part of the composition, rather than simply getting a little more of a distant subject into the frame.

Specialist Note

When a room or a night sky won’t fit into the frame, this 11mm lens gives you a much wider view to work with. Its f/1.8 maximum aperture is particularly helpful after dark: try starting at f/1.8 for stars, then choose a shutter speed that keeps their points of light looking crisp. The 104° angle of view also makes it easier to bring a strong foreground into a landscape without losing the sweep of the scene. I’d recommend it to Sony APS-C users who enjoy wide compositions of architecture or the night sky. One thing to watch: at this width, objects near the edges can feel stretched, so keep important details closer to the centre.
