Tokina 112mm Pro IRND 0.3
Tokina 112mm Pro IRND 0.3 | Make a one-stop exposure adjustment
In bright light, you may want a little more control over exposure without changing the look you’ve set with your aperture or shutter speed. The Tokina 112mm Pro IRND 0.3 is a neutral-density filter for that small adjustment: its 0.3 density corresponds to about one stop of light reduction. It suits photographers and filmmakers working with 112mm filtration who need a modest change rather than a strong darkening effect. That can help when you want a slightly slower shutter for motion, or need to hold your chosen exposure settings in a scene that’s just a stop too bright. The IRND name identifies the filter type, while the 112mm size makes it specific to setups that use this filter diameter. Its strength is restraint: one stop gives you a fine adjustment, though it won’t solve a scene that needs several stops of reduction.
Specialist Note
This Tokina gives you a one-stop adjustment without relying on a change to your camera settings. I’d consider it when you want to keep a chosen aperture or shutter speed and the scene is only slightly too bright. At 0.3 density, it reduces light by about one stop; for example, you can move from 1/125 sec to around 1/60 sec and keep a similar exposure. That’s a practical step for adding a little motion blur to a moving subject. The 112mm size is for rigs already set up for that filter diameter, so it suits a dedicated large-filter setup. Its limit is clear: for much brighter conditions, you’ll need stronger light reduction.
