TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 Fujifilm X-Mount | Fast manual portraits

For portraits with a softly separated subject and a tighter frame, the TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 Fujifilm X-Mount is a fast standard prime for Fujifilm X photographers. Its 50mm focal length and 32° angle of view help you pick out a face or detail without stepping right up to it; on APS-C, that framing is especially well suited to portraits. It also works for street photography and travel when you want to draw attention to one subject in a busy scene. The f/1.2 maximum aperture gives you more scope to photograph in dimmer light and control how much the background competes for attention. Focus is manual, so this lens suits photographers who like to place focus deliberately and take a moment over composition. That measured pace can be rewarding for considered frames, though it’s less suited to fast-moving subjects.

Specialist Note

Dim indoor portraits can be a challenge when you want a clear subject without immediately reaching for extra light; this lens’s f/1.2 maximum aperture gives you room to work in those conditions. On Fujifilm X bodies, the 50mm framing is equivalent to 75mm on full frame, a useful reach for head-and-shoulders portraits. I’d start at f/1.2 when you want the background to fall softer, then stop down a little if you need more of the face in focus. Manual focus suits patient portrait work and deliberate street compositions. It’s a less natural fit for unpredictable action, where a moment can pass before you’ve focused.
