Ulanzi PT-7 Cold Shoe Extension Plate
Ulanzi PT-7 Cold Shoe Extension Plate | Add an extended cold-shoe mounting position
When the accessory position on a camera setup needs to sit farther out, a small extension plate can help make the arrangement work. The Ulanzi PT-7 is identified as a cold shoe extension plate, so its role is to provide an extended position for a cold-shoe accessory. That makes it relevant to photographers and video makers who are organising a camera rig around cold-shoe fittings and want more flexibility in where an accessory sits. It’s best understood as a practical rig component, rather than a filter that changes the image. Use it when the position of an accessory is getting in the way of how you want to handle or arrange the camera, or when you’re planning a more orderly setup. The product name gives a clear indication of its purpose, but doesn’t tell us its dimensions or how many mounting points it has. If those details matter to your rig, don’t assume them from the name alone.
Specialist Note
A cramped accessory layout is the kind of small annoyance that can make a camera rig harder to arrange; the PT-7 is made for adding an extension to a cold-shoe setup. The cold-shoe wording points to the fitting style, so it suits a rig built around accessories that use that kind of shoe. “Extension plate” describes its job: give your accessory position some extra reach rather than changing what the accessory does. I’d consider it when you need to arrange a cold-shoe accessory away from the camera’s immediate mounting position, or when planning a tidier camera setup. One practical caution: the name doesn’t tell you the plate’s length or layout, so don’t plan around a particular spacing without checking those details.
