Urth 39mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL)
Urth 39mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL) | Tame reflections and bring out skies
Reduce reflections on water or glass and give a blue sky more definition with a polarising filter. The Urth 39mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL) is a 39mm filter kit identified for UV and CPL use, suited to photographers whose lens accepts a 39mm filter. A CPL, or circular polariser, can cut reflected glare when you turn it to suit the light; the change is easy to see as you adjust it while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen. That makes it handy for landscape scenes, waterside views and shop-window pictures where reflections compete with the subject. The UV filter type is intended to deal with ultraviolet light. Results from polarisation depend on the scene and the angle of the light, so it won’t remove every reflection or deepen every sky. This kit is for a specific filter size, rather than a general fit across lenses.
Specialist Note
The 39mm filter ring is the first practical detail to consider: it makes this kit a match for a lens with a 39mm filter thread, not a one-size-fits-all accessory. For water or a bright shop window, turn the CPL while watching the reflection; stop when the surface detail comes through without losing the look you want. It can also add depth to a blue sky when the light and shooting angle are right. The UV filter type has a different job, handling ultraviolet light. One trade-off with the CPL is that it reduces the light reaching the camera, so you may need a slower shutter speed or a higher ISO in dim conditions.
