Urth 43mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 43mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+ | Softer, atmospheric highlights
Bright points of light can look harsh, and a crisp image isn’t always the mood you want. The Urth 43mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+ gives photographers a way to create a softer, more atmospheric look in camera. A black mist filter diffuses light, gently softening the appearance of bright highlights. That can suit portraits, evening street scenes and other images where lamps or reflections are part of the frame. The 43mm designation identifies the filter size, while the magnetic format is intended to make attaching and removing it quicker than a threaded change. That’s handy when you want to switch between a clear look and a softened one during a session. This is a creative effect, not a filter for correcting colour. Choose it when you want the highlight character to shape the image, rather than expecting every frame to look neutral and crisp.
Specialist Note
“Will the Urth 43mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+ soften bright lights?” Yes—that’s the look its Black Mist design is for, giving highlights a gentler, more atmospheric feel. I’d suggest it to portrait photographers who want a softer rendering around a bright window, or to anyone framing streetlights after dark. Keep a light source in or just outside the composition to make the effect part of the scene. The 43mm size matters because it needs to match the filter size your lens takes; the magnetic fitting is useful when you want to change the look without a slow threaded swap. One caveat: that softened rendering is intentional, so it won’t suit every image.
