Urth 67mm Ethereal ½ Black Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 67mm Ethereal ½ Black Mist Filter Plus+ | A softer, more atmospheric image
Soften the look of bright highlights and give a scene a gentler, more atmospheric feel with the Urth 67mm Ethereal ½ Black Mist Filter Plus+. Its ½ strength offers a visible creative effect while keeping the scene recognisable, making it a good fit for photographers who want a less crisp, more expressive look in camera. Try it for portraits, where a softened rendering can suit skin and bright backgrounds, or for evening scenes with lamps and other point lights in the frame. The filter’s 67mm size is the key fit detail: it’s intended for a lens with a matching 67mm filter thread. This isn’t a neutral protective filter; it changes the appearance of your image while it’s fitted. If you enjoy shaping the mood at the point of capture rather than relying solely on editing later, this Urth filter gives you a straightforward way to explore that look.
Specialist Note
Hard, sharp-looking highlights can make a portrait or night scene feel harsher than you intended; this filter gives you a way to soften that impression as you shoot. The ½ strength is a useful middle ground for a noticeable mist effect without making the whole image feel overtly dreamy. For portraits, try keeping a bright window or background light in the composition; for evening pictures, let a few lamps remain visible so their glow helps set the mood. The 67mm diameter matters when choosing a lens to use it with: the lens needs a matching filter thread. It’s a creative effect, so leave it off when you want a clean, unaltered rendering.
