Urth 67mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 67mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+ | Soft, atmospheric highlights
Soften bright highlights and give a scene a gentler, more atmospheric feel with the Urth 67mm Magnetic Ethereal Black Mist Filter Plus+. It’s a black mist effect filter with a 67mm size and a magnetic format, suited to photographers who want a more expressive look straight from the camera. Point lights, reflections and bright windows can take on a softer bloom, while the image keeps its sense of detail; the effect is about changing the mood, not adding sharpness or correcting exposure. It can work especially well for portraits with a bright light in the background, or evening scenes where small light sources are part of the composition. The Ethereal Black Mist name tells you the direction of the look: softened highlights rather than a crisp, clinical rendering. If you enjoy shaping the feel of an image while you shoot, this filter gives you a direct way to do it.
Specialist Note
This filter makes softened highlights part of the photograph, instead of leaving that look for editing afterwards. The 67mm size is the key detail when choosing it: it’s for a lens with a matching 67mm filter thread, so check that measurement on the lens you plan to use. Its magnetic format is handy if you like changing filters during a session, as long as your setup supports magnetic filters. I’d use it for a portrait with a bright window behind the subject, or to give evening lights a gentler presence in the frame. Keep a few bright points visible if you want the mist effect to read clearly. It’s a look-making filter, so it won’t suit every scene.
