Urth 67mm Magnetic Ethereal White Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 67mm Magnetic Ethereal White Mist Filter Plus+ | A softer, dreamier highlight look
Hard-edged highlights and a very crisp image can make portraits or night scenes feel sharper and more clinical than you want. The Urth 67mm Magnetic Ethereal White Mist Filter Plus+ adds a gentle white-mist character in camera, softening the rendering of highlights for a more atmospheric result. It’s aimed at photographers and filmmakers who want that softened look while composing, rather than relying on an effect added later. Try it for portraits with a bright light in the background, or scenes with small point lights: the light can take on a more diffused, glowing appearance while the rest of the frame keeps its detail. The effect is part of the capture, so it’s worth deciding whether that look suits the whole scene before fitting the filter. Its 67mm size is a key detail when matching it to your filter setup, and the magnetic format is intended for quick fitting and removal.
Specialist Note
Does the Ethereal White Mist make highlights look hazy? Yes, that’s the point: it gives bright areas a softer, more diffused character without asking you to create the look in post. The 67mm size is the measurement to match to your filter setup; the magnetic design makes the filter easier to swap in and out when the scene changes. I’d use it for a portrait with a bright window or practical light behind the subject, or for a night scene with points of light in frame. Keep the effect in mind across the whole image, though: it’s applied while you shoot, not selectively to just the highlights.
