Urth 67mm Variable ND2 400 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 67mm Variable ND2 400 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Plus+ | Control light and soften highlights
Hold back bright light for a softer, more cinematic-looking image: the Urth 67mm Variable ND2 400 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Plus+ combines adjustable neutral density with a ¼-strength Black Mist effect. Its variable ND range lets you reduce the light reaching the camera, which can help you keep a chosen shutter speed for video or use a wider aperture in bright conditions. The Black Mist effect softens the rendering of bright highlights, adding a gentle glow rather than leaving them looking stark. This filter suits photographers and filmmakers who want both effects in one filter, especially for outdoor scenes where exposure control and highlight character matter. The 67mm size is for lenses with a 67mm filter thread. It’s a considered option when you want to shape exposure and image mood together, rather than reach for a neutral-density filter alone.
Specialist Note
Bright daylight can make it awkward to keep the shutter speed you want without closing down the aperture; the variable ND range gives you room to manage that. For video, set your preferred shutter speed first—1/50 second is a common starting point—then adjust the ND to suit the light. The 67mm size means you’ll need a lens with a matching filter thread, so it’s worth checking the marking on the lens itself. I’d point this toward outdoor video or portraits in strong light, where the ¼ Black Mist effect can take the edge off bright highlights. That mist strength is part of the look, so it won’t suit every scene.
