Urth 82mm CPL Lens Filter Pro

Urth 82mm CPL Lens Filter Pro | Reduce reflections in bright scenes

On a sunny day, reflections can hide detail in water, glass or glossy leaves. The Urth 82mm CPL Lens Filter Pro is a polarising filter for managing that reflected light while you take the photograph, rather than trying to recreate the effect afterwards. It’s suited to photographers who often work outdoors or around reflective surfaces and want more control over glare and the appearance of a blue sky. A circular polariser works by changing how much polarised light reaches the lens; rotating the filter lets you adjust the effect as you look at the scene. This is most useful when reflections are distracting or when you want more definition in a sky. The 82mm size is for lenses with a matching 82mm filter thread, so the thread size matters when choosing where to use it.

Getting the polarising effect

Look at the scene as you turn the filter and stop when the reflection or sky looks the way you want. The change is most noticeable in the right lighting and at a suitable angle to the light source; it won’t remove every reflection. With a broad view of the sky, the effect can also look uneven across the frame. A polariser gives you control at capture, but it’s worth adjusting it for each composition rather than leaving it at one setting.
