On a portrait set, a hard-edged pool of light can separate a subject from the background without spilling light across the whole scene. The Godox VSA-19K Spotlight Kit uses a 19° projection lens to turn an LED light into a narrow, sharply defined beam. It’s a spotlight attachment for shaping light with more precision than a bare lamp provides, and its Bowens mount connects it to compatible LED lights. Use it to place a clean circle of light on a face or prop, cut the beam into a custom shape with the built-in shutters, or project a pattern onto a background with one of the supplied gobos. The lens optics produce an even circle, with brightness and colour kept consistent from the centre towards the edge. That matters when the beam itself is part of the image, rather than just illumination. The kit also supports colour effects with a gel frame, while an iris narrows the beam to a smaller spot. It’s a substantial piece of studio equipment, but the controls offer direct ways to shape the output for portraits, product scenes and more graphic set lighting.

Light-shaping features

• 19° projection lens: The narrow beam puts light in a controlled area, and the defined projection edge is useful for graphic highlights, circles of light and deliberate background separation.
• Built-in shutters: Four internal shutter blades shape the beam’s outline. Use them to trim light away from part of a subject or background instead of accepting a full circular projection.
• Gobo projection: The holder accepts a gobo so you can cast a pattern onto a wall, backdrop or subject. Three gobos are included for adding projected texture to a set.
• Iris control: Fit an iris to reduce the opening and concentrate the beam into a smaller spot. It offers a more focused circle than the lens’s wider projection.
• Adjustable spot-to-flood beam: A lever changes the beam from spot towards flood. That gives you a direct way to alter the spread to suit the lighting position and scene.
• Gel frame: Add a colour gel in the supplied frame to change the projected light’s colour. This is useful when colour itself is part of the background or subject treatment.
• Flexible studio positioning: The attachment can be mounted on a C-stand or combo stand, or suspended from a grid. Its sturdy construction supports these different studio setups.

Good to know

Godox also offers 26° and 36° lenses for the spotlight attachment; these are optional and can be swapped for a different projection angle. The VSA-19K is intended for LED light sources rated up to 300W. The attachment measures 516 × 241 × 196 mm, so allow for its size when planning a stand position or storage space.
