Shimoda Core Unit - Drone Pro - Black (520-472)

Shimoda Core Unit Drone Pro - Black (520-472): Carry a protected Mavic kit

Softly padded dividers define the Shimoda Core Unit Drone Pro - Black (520-472), creating separate spaces to protect and organise a DJI Mavic setup with an RC Pro controller. The layout is made for the drone, controller, spare batteries and filters, rather than mixing everything loose in a larger camera bag. That’s useful when your drone travels alongside camera gear: keep its equipment together in the upper compartment of a compatible Shimoda pack, then take out the complete unit when you reach your flying spot. It also works well for a car-based setup, where you can carry the core separately and keep the drone kit close at hand. The black version matches Shimoda Explore and Action X packs. An AirTag pocket and a detachable shoulder strap add useful details for keeping track of the kit and carrying it outside the backpack.

What it does

• Padded, purpose-sized compartments: The dividers separate a DJI Mavic drone, RC Pro controller, spare batteries and filters. Each item has a place, so the kit stays organised together.
• Protection in a larger pack: Padding in the lid and a YKK zipper add protection when the core is carried inside a backpack, where an insert can shift around.
• Two clear TPU pockets: The durable transparent pockets keep small items such as a lens cloth or batteries visible, so they’re easier to locate among the drone gear.
• Water-resistant black finish: The black version is intended to match Shimoda Explore and Action X packs. Its water-resistant construction adds reassurance when you’re carrying the drone kit outdoors.
• AirTag pocket: A dedicated space holds an AirTag, giving you a way to keep tabs on the location of your equipment.

Good to know

The Core Unit measures 26 × 18 × 16.5 cm externally, with an internal space of 24.5 × 16.5 × 15 cm. It fits the upper storage compartment of the Action X40 and larger Shimoda backpacks, keeping drone equipment apart from camera gear below. At 350 g, the insert adds a modest amount of weight to your pack. Check the internal measurements against the exact kit you plan to carry.
