LaCie D2 Quadra 6TB USB3.0 7200rpm 8,9cm 3,5inch FireWire800

LaCie D2 Quadra 6TB USB3.0 7200rpm 8,9cm 3,5inch FireWire800 | Space for a growing photo archive

Keep a substantial photo archive in one place, with room for finished work as well as files you’re still sorting. The LaCie D2 Quadra is an external hard drive with 6TB of storage, a 7200rpm drive and USB 3.0 and FireWire 800 connections. It suits photographers who want a desktop drive for backing up image folders or keeping a large collection close at hand. The capacity gives you space to organise work by year, project or client, rather than splitting an archive across several smaller drives. Its 3.5-inch format makes this a drive to place on a desk, not one to think of as a pocket-sized carry-around. For a working archive or a second copy of important files, that straightforward, roomy approach is the point. The model name also identifies it as an 8.9cm drive. The title gives two connection types, so you can choose between them according to the setup you use.

For a considered storage routine

A large drive is most useful when you decide what job it has in your workflow. You might keep a main folder for completed shoots here, or use it as a destination for regular copies of files from your computer. Either way, a simple folder structure makes it easier to find older work when you need it. The 7200rpm figure identifies the drive’s rotational speed; it’s a concrete specification, rather than a promise about how quickly every transfer will run. USB 3.0 and FireWire 800 give the D2 Quadra two connection options named in the product title. If you’re choosing storage for a desk-based photo setup, the key question is which connection suits the equipment you already use. This is a practical option when capacity matters more than a compact, travel-first design.
